Information about street violence:

Violence is the “intentional use of physical force against another person or against oneself, which either results in, or has a high likelihood of resulting in, injury or death” (Rosenberg, O’Carroll, and Powell 1992,p.3071).

Violence is usually considered according to the relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, as well as where it takes place. Street Violence refers to physical force by individuals or groups within public spaces, the result of which may involve injury or death. Street violence can take many forms, including actual or threatened murder, rape, sexual assault, robbery, and assault.

Since 2000, several reports have indicated that violent street crime in the UK is increasing, while research has shown the character of these crimes is changing. Research at the University of Glamorgan interviewed offenders in prison and young offenders’ institutions. They interviewed a variety of violent offenders, such as carjacking, street robbery, snatch thefts and certain kinds of aggravated burglaries, along with retaliatory, dispute-related, gang and disrespect violence. In particular, they looked at the role played by factors such as street culture.

According to Britain BBC News, 23/09/08, every 4 minutes a person is a victim of knife crime.

Karen, Abusive Relationships

Having had hypnotherapy in the past I know how effective it can be in removing anxiety and overcoming issues. However, in the 10 years since my longest relationship ended I seemed to be stuck in a pattern of being in emotionally, physically and sometimes sexually abusive relationships that I was very effective in blocking out.
