Depression Information
Depression affects approximately 1 in 5 people in their life-time so if you are one of these people, you are far from being alone. One of the worst things about depression is that people endure it too long, without seeking help it is likely to have significant impact on your daily life and, if it is severe, daily activities may be almost impossible.
Depression can be a serious illness. Health professionals use the terms ‘depression’, ‘depressive illness’ or ‘clinical depression’ to refer to something very different from the common experience of feeling miserable, or fed up, for a short period of time.
If you are depressed, you may have feelings of extreme sadness that can last for a long time. These feelings can be severe enough to interfere with your daily life, and usually last for weeks, or months, rather than days.
Women are twice as likely to suffer from depression as men, although men are far more likely to commit suicide. This may be because men are more reluctant to seek help for depression.
Depression has been well studied and we understand depression well and know that using Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness therapy and counselling can help put you on a path to empowerment and to put depression well behind you. We can also use a range of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies that are effective treatments of depression.
